Sozo sushi

SOZO SUSHI..... Freshness is their thing!

Very very small sushi place on the drive... Local people call Wilton Drive, the drive....

The wilton
It's run by a Japanese family from new York, the chef has years of experience making sushi... Very meaty rolls... Sometimes when you go to some sushi places, it's more rice than fish.... Here you can see a thing layer of rice but enough to cover the fish and perfect combination....

Every roll is made with really fresh ingredients, they use real crab... Great presentation... And of course amazing taste...

I had a few rolls and I've been very pleased with all of them... I'm tuna lover... I can eat it every day... Tuns is so fresh here... The new Yorker is a roll wrapped on cucumber... Lots of tuna... Very very meaty...

You can sit by the bar and watch the chef make the rolls... You can ask him to make rolls that he likes and they are not in the menu... Like toro... It comes from the underbelly of blue fin tuna... It's more meaty and fatty... So good
Sozolicious

They don't open for lunch and parking is metered... But lots of places where to park... You sit outside and watch people... Many characters walk by... After all it's in the heart of Wilton Manors...

Alegria Tacos

What can I say about this place? Yum yum yum....  Another of my favorites Mexican joints...  Simple, delish and super yumo.... My favorite thing here is the torta... A torta?! What's that?

Steak torta
Well a torta is like grinder, hoagie, sub, sandwich.... Mexican style... The bread is the key for a great torta...  Soft but not too soft to fall apart... Firm to the touch.. Filled with Mexican goodies... They have all kind of them.. My favorite one is al pastor... Marinated pork... A hint of sweet and spicy meat... Tender...  A layer of meat... Refried beans... Tomato... Cheese.. JalapeƱos and onions... I like everything but the onions... But that's my taste...  When you bite the torta your taste buds get real happy... Soft flavorful bread.. Tender meat.. Melting cheese... Creamy avocado... Salty beans.. A full mouth of flavor...  They are so good... And huge... Plenty for 2... But I don't like sharing so I eat all by myself...

Ryan loves ordering tostadas...  A flat fried corn tortilla topped with the meat of your choice... They have al pastor, steak, carnitas, lengua (tongue)... What?! Tongue!? Really! Yes... Most people are not familiar with tongue... Or they think it's gross... But c'mon we eat caviar... Fish eggs...  Chicken wings...  Foie gras... Goose liver... Snails... People pay lots of money for those delicacies... But tongue is gross... I don't think so.. When it's prepared the right away... Tongue is tender and full of flavor...

Tostadas are served with beans... Salsa and avocado... They have tacos as well... The food is so good there.. Very small place on the corner of Andrews and NW 38th street in fort lauderdale... The place is run by the two nicest people... They are always happy to serve you... They make everything while you wait... Everything is made fresh and from scratch...

I've been there several times and I'm always happy with my food, it's one of those small places that you so happy to come back...

Wing Plus

So I found this place not long ago, my friend Dan and I were watching tv and the food network had some grilled wings showing and our mouth started watering... I love wings... My favorites are the drums I feel like I get more meat per bite... So I went on google maps and searched for wings... Wings Plus showed up among a few more but I was surprised that I've never been there.. I started reading the reviews and they looked good... We decided to check it out

The place is located 87 W Prospect rd, Fort Lauderdale... The location is not very appealing, in fact it looks kind of old and not that kind of plaza I will go when I need some kind of service, most of the shoppes are ugly... But we were brave enough to go inside... The lady at the front told us to sit anywhere... When we got there they were just a few people eating... We were sure about the food, because when you see a place at lunch hours and it's kind of empty... Well sometimes the food is not the greatest...  WE WERE REALLY WRONG...

Got the menu... Right away we were surprised with all the different sauce flavors:
Redneck whiskey, cajun, garlic, BBQ, honey, honey mustard, teriyaki, Jamaican jerk, Thai chilli, raspberry, key west, southwest chipotle, hibachi, lemon pepper, sweet and sour, they have the typical ones too....

Decisions decisions decisions that was our main problem... So many to choose from... What to do... Well you can have a small order (10 wings $9.95) and ask for half of each flavor.. 50 cents extra... Well worth it if you want to be adventurous and try different flavors...

We ordered 2 small orders to start... The Thai chilli... One of my favorites... I love Asian food.. So wings with Asian flavor.... Yum yum..  The wings are juicy and big... Their secret.. Fresh wings not frozen... The waiter told me that...

We had the key west style as well... They are full of flavor... Tangy love, saucy and one of Dan's favorites... Well I enjoyed them too.. I ordered those several times..

I picked the raspberry ones as well... Too sweet for me.. But you can combine with another sauce to create a new one...

The lemon pepper ones are very juicy even though they are served without any sauce... They are a dry rub... But they are so good just like that

Then we still had a few wings left on first 20... But we wanted to try more.. So got 10 more...  Jamaican jerk.. They are good... Not my favorites ones... But still good... And the southwest chipotle...  Great kick.. Spicy.. Smoky.. Lots of sauce.. Too spicy for most people but perfect for a Mexican like me...

I've been there a few times and tried most of their flavors, never been dissatisfied so far... There are more things on the menu than wings... Lots of different appetizers... Sandwiches... Burgers.. But I go there for the wings...  So far the best wings in the fort lauderdale area...

Give them a try and you will come back over and over..

JoJo's tacos

So most people I know, know that I'm Mexican... Mexican food in south Florida is not the best I've ever had, but there are a few restaurants that I love love love.... One of them is JoJo's tacos, a small restaurant located a block away from A1A on commercial blvd, where they serve the best gourmet tacos in South Florida...

This is NOT a typical Mexican joint where you order combos with enchiladas and chimichangas...  This a gourmet style tacos kind of place... Where you can find roasted pork butt topped with pickled jalapeƱo romaine and queso blanco (melted white cheese)...the chef who has been working for years in fine dining put his love on his food... So far every item on the menu I've tried has been real real good...

freshly made guac and chips
You have to start with freshly made guacamole with freshly fried tortilla chips or some queso... You can add chorizo, chicken, shrimp or sirloin... The queso comes to your table bubbling hot... Thick n delish... Perfect for the thick tortilla chips that don't break when you dip into it...

When you visit this place for dinner expect sometimes a little bit of wait, so come around 6:30 or 7 to get a table right away... Sit whatever you want... There are only a few tables.. And I mean like 5 or 6 tables... Or pick the bar where you can watch the magic happen..

No matter what you order, I guarantee you will love it if you enjoy food as much as I do... I had almost every taco on the menu... BTW the menu is short... Just a few items... But everyone of them is really good... The tacos are big.. Go with your friends and order one of each and share them, my mouth is watering already thinking about the red chile braised brisket topped with blue agave cilantro slaw, potato sticks and sour cream.... Meat is so tender, full of flavor... As soon as you bite the taco your mouth explode with happiness... Tender meat crunchy slaw soft tortillas = love

They have a few cervezas to select from and wine... Or you can pick soft drinks from the machine and serve yourself, decoration is very cool, some Mexican flares without being over the top, very clean and service is great, the girls that work there are always seeing if you need anything, you will be happy when you go there

One thing I have to point that I don't like is the parking situation but they don't really have control over that... They have a few parking spots that you don't pay to park... Don't park at burger fi they will town your car... But there is plenty of meter parking, just bring some coins
